IMPACTING THE LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION

In India, a sizable proportion of the population—approximately 52%—attends government schools, yet 55% of these students do not complete the seventh grade. However, this challenge is one we can collectively overcome. Education is the foundation of a better India, and our collaboration with the government is pivotal in driving this transformative change.

Kalisu Foundation, a dynamic youth-driven NGO founded in 2013, has a consistent focus on delivering high-quality education to children from low-income backgrounds who attend government schools. Our dream is to equip every child with Knowledge, skills & character required realise their full potential and undergo life-altering transformations. We are also a 12A and 80G registered organisation.

Kalisu's inception sprouted within the vibrant minds of Mysore, blossoming from local 'addas'—gatherings. As products of a standardised and formal education system, we keenly sensed the need to break free from monotony and infuse a sense of curiosity and excitement for learning within these young minds. Hence, Kalisu, translating to 'to enable,' was conceptualised during the early months of 2013.

Today, the Kalisu Foundation is making a tangible impact, reaching the lives of over 8000 children across 16 government schools. This incredible accomplishment is the result of a network of change agents from all backgrounds who share our unwavering vision. Our approach is all-encompassing, centred on the holistic development and education of each child, nurturing the potential to illuminate their future prospects. Together, we possess the capability to rewrite the narrative of education for these children, arming them with the essential tools to thrive and flourish.

We are privileged to have the support of the Royal Family of Mysuru, who have a rich legacy of pioneering education in the state. The present titular holder, Sri YKC Wadiyar, serves as our ambassador and shares our unwavering vision of ensuring access to books for every child. He actively engages with schools, conducting sessions for our children and contributing to our mission.

Kalisu foundation started on 2013 with the vision to bring back habit of reading among government schools.

Launch of Library project
2017

Completed 10 libraries

Started Kalisu play project and build 2 sports lab and 2 Play areas

Started with paathashala project covering 15 schools
